The project involved the development of around 0.85 hectares of prime land fronting a major road in the Sutherland Shire as a medium density residential development delivering 40 dwelling units for Defence Housing Australia. The Client, Thornbrook Properties P/L engaged blueVisions to assist in the land acquisition, development management, and project management of the design, approvals and construction stages.
The construction cost was $12.36m with total development value of approximately $20M and had a construction period of 72 weeks which commenced early 2006.
The development required the acquisition of land, demolition of existing buildings, design and approvals and the subsequent construction to deliver a mix of 39 double-storied townhouses and a villa.
The development features an integrated mix of built and open spaces with various environmentally sustainable design initiatives. The development delivered extensive fresh landscaping with native trees and shrubs, in addition to dense boundary landscaping with feature landscaping and trees concentrated near the major road intersections. Whilst development resulted in the cutting down of some existing trees, a total of 120 new trees were replanted. The development also contributed to decreased stress on street parking in the area by providing a total of 64 new underground parking bays.
