Ensure a Safe Workplace

Course Objectives

This two (2) day course aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to monitor a safe workplace. Managers are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their work area by providing information regarding work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures. Safety is paramount to business success, therefore managing health and safety best practices is an essential skill for all managers.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Discuss workplace safety and outline legal responsibilities associated with a safe work environment.
  2. Create a safety plan and identify hazards.
  3. Recognise the role of management.
  4. Develop training procedures.
  5. Implement a safety plan.


  • Present and assess information in the workplace about WHS policies and procedures.
  • Lead and facilitate participative arrangements for the management of WHS.
  • Promptly deal with issues raised in the consultative WHS procedures.
  • Provide workplace training opportunities through formal and informal channels.
  • Implement procedures to assess hazards and control risk.

    • How to identify hazards.

  • Managers, supervisors, team leaders or anyone with responsibility for WHS policies and procedures according to the relevant legislative requirements.

Delivery Strategy

This two (2) day course has been designed by our senior trainers who combine industry experience with academic excellence.

Our program design and delivery is based on adult learning principles and experiential learning.

Participants will also receive a state-of-the-art student manual with all reference material, PowerPoint presentations and activities.

Day One

Health and safety culture

  • Discuss health and safety culture.
  • Regulations and legislative requirements.
  • Roles and responsibilities.
  • Activities throughout the module.

WHS workplace consultation

  • Implement and monitor participative arrangements for the management of WHS.
  • Deal with issues raised through consultation.
  • Implement and monitor the organisation's procedures for providing WHS training.
  • Activities throughout the module.

Day Two

Hazard management plan and records

  • Implement and monitor procedures for identifying hazards and assessing risks.
  • Assess risks and action team members’ hazard reports.
  • Control risks in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • Accurately maintain records for incidents of occupational injury in accordance with WHS legal requirements.
  • Activities throughout the module.
