Course Objectives

This one (1) day course covers the competencies involved in the use and application of enterprise information technology systems along with the skills and knowledge required to coordinate effective workplace communication.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand enterprise information technology systems and accurately demonstrate and convey this information to colleagues
  2. Identify and accurately use software, databases, menus etc in accordance with manufacturer instructions and enterprise procedures
  3. Exchange information according to business procedures
  4. Appreciate the importance of keyboard skills, accurately edited/updated information systems and back-up procedures when exchanging information
  5. Identify equipment/hardware/software faults and rectified where possible or seek assistance sought without delay
  6. Plan, establish and monitor communication networks in accordance with company procedures
  7. Provide team members with communication network information to ensure maximum efficiency
  8. Plan additional communication forums when necessary such as meetings, briefings and committees
  9. Create and enforce an environment in which all views are aired and considered in accordance with enterprise policy


  • Identify the different types of information technology systems found in the workplace
  • Learn how to accurately use a variety of information technology systems
  • Identify ways in which to accurately convey and demonstrate IT information to colleagues
  • Understand ways in which to exchange information using IT and in accordance with business policies and procedures
  • Understand the importance of concise and efficient keyboard skills
  • Learn the importance of accurately edited and updated information
  • Understand the importance of back up procedures when exchanging information
  • Learn how to rectify IT faults and issues
  • Learn when and how to ask for assistance with IT faults and issues
  • Understand the role we play in planning, establishing and monitoring communication networks
  • Identify other methods of communication to use in conjunction with IT
  • Understand the importance of creating and enforcing a workplace environment where all employees can share their views.
